Teresa Wenhart - Music, Brain, Psychology

am i a musician?

Being a musician is a way of life,
a deep inner need to understand the world through sounds and communicate with it.
My training has been and continues to be intense, diverse, and full of passion – though unconventional. It has not only provided me with the technical foundation but also the freedom to find my own path – outside of traditional degrees, yet in the heart of music. I draw inspiration from a variety of influences: from classical music to jazz, from contemporary styles to piano, cello, and choral singing.
Music is, for me, an expression of freedom and individuality.
Being a musician means telling stories, touching people, and putting a part of ourselves into every note – whether on stage, teaching, or simply playing because
the heart demands it.
„A musician is someone who dedicates themselves to a higher idea.”
Gustav Mahler

“After a certain high level of technical skill is achieved, science and art tend to coalesce in esthetics, plasticity, and form. The greatest scientists are always artists as well”
Albert Einstein
The connection between music and psychology
Music and psychology have one thing in common: they are about people and their stories. In music, I look for the melody behind the notes, the story that a piece tells. In my psychological work, it's about understanding the stories and patterns that people carry within themselves. Both require the ability to read between the lines – or, in music, to hear between the notes. Being a musician means telling stories, sharing emotions, and putting a part of oneself into every note.
"The musician draws from the depth of their inner self and brings the invisible to sound."
" (Robert Schumann)
In both areas, I work with the invisible: with emotions, inner conflicts, and the search for understanding – in both a philosophical and scientific sense. This is what makes music and human relationships so fascinating to me.
